It all started when my wife called Gillece Services about the $19.95 furnace inspection deal they advertise. They said everything was good and that we should be good for the winter. A short time later the furnace stopped functioning; this is when the troubles with Gillece began. My issues:

1. I believe the Gillece technician that did the initial inspection of my furnace either was not honest in his assessment of the condition of my furnace….or intentionally did something to cause my furnace to malfunction.

2. Gillece used scare tactics to discourage my wife and I from seeking other estimates for the furnace and also tried these same tactics to try and convince us we needed a new AC unit.

3. The AC unit stopped working shortly after. Suspecting that the Gillece technician may have tampered with our AC, we asked another HVAC company to take a look. He discovered and pointed out to me (I was right there) that Gillece did not hook up our AC when they installed the furnace so no power was getting to our unit. He went ahead and corrected the wiring issue and we had AC. The very next day, there was no cold air coming out of our vents. We contacted another HVAC Company to take a look. Once again I stayed with the technician and watched everything. He discovered and showed me that the valves that allow the Freon to be used by the AC unit were shut off. He went on to explain that the cold air we felt yesterday was residual Freon left in the line…once this ran out so did the cooler air and because of the backlog caused by the closed valves…this created a leak and the remaining Freon was lost. I have all this in writing.

4. Gillece overcharged us for the repairs they said they did.

5. Their website and literature talk about “The Gillece Guarantee”. Their technicians have not been honest, ethical, professional, or competent.

6!. I believe Gillece intentionally damaged my furnace and AC unit in hopes that I would continue to seek their aid and be overcharged for their services:. I have written estimates and documentation from other HVAC companies confirming that the furnace and AC unit were tampered with and that I was price gouged..

I first attempted to phone Gillece with my complaints twice, but each time they kept telling me "you need to speak with, etc'.”I left messages and never had my calls returned/. So I sent a two-page certified letter (which they signed off on) detailing my issues stated below several weeks ago and still have not received any sort of acknowledgment?. I requested a full refund of the initial furnace check ($19:.95), the cost of the replacing our furnace ($4808'.00) and the cost of have our AC unit repaired due to Gillece tampering with it ($235.08). Copies of the respective invoices and evidence were enclosed.

Just sent my materials to Jennifer Kelley and completed the online complaint form for the FTC...good idea to try and get the Feds involved!

Jenifer Kelly is the point person heading up the PA Attorney General's investigation on Gillece.

PA Attorney General is investigating Gillece. We should also file complaints with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC)...if they get enough complaints they will also investigate...and the feds are no joke.

Even after channel 4's reports why are these people still getting away with this?

Another one to avoid: Jim Hackwelder for plumbing isues. He upsold our elderly neighbor a $7,000 contract because he found a hairlike root in their drain pipe and scared them into it. We are 100% certain that a proper $99 drain cleaning and $25 bottle of Root-X would've done the job (since that's all it takes for myself and our other neighbors).

I couldn't help but notice these messages. Ron is the guy who sold me my furnace last year. I wish I had thrown him out of my house. Instead I fell for the bull and paid $2000 more than I should have.

Names were Steve Ally (first time for the check-up) and Ron Herrera (for the furnace).

First visit for the $19,95 check-up it was Steve Ally. The guy they sent to fix the furnace was Ron Herrera.

Thanks. I did send my complaint with the letter, copies of invoices, etc. to the PA Attorney General. Also, sent to the BBB, but they haven't been much help so far. Gillece of course has denied receiving the calls or letter. Good thing I sent the letter certified and have the signed receipt.
